The 2026 Ford Expedition® arrives at Jay Malone Ford completely redesigned, with the all-new Tremor® off-road model joining the lineup, a 24" panoramic display and 13.2" center stack standard on every trim, BlueCruise hands-free highway driving available across the lineup, and Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 included on most configurations. This is the most capable, most technology-forward Expedition Ford has built. What’s new for the 2026 Ford Expedition?

2026 brings the most substantial update the Expedition has seen in years. The headline changes:

• Tremor® model is all-new for 2026 — the Expedition’s first off-road-focused trim. Standard 4x4, 440-hp 3.5L EcoBoost V6 High-Output engine, electronic-locking rear differential, modified higher-ride suspension with premium passive shocks, modified Raptor-derived skid plates with fuel tank underbody protection, 33" all-terrain tires, and Rock Crawl drive mode added to the Terrain Management System.
• Marsh Gray paint is new for 2026 — replaces the discontinued Wild Green color from prior model years.
• Ford Security Package is new — included for one year with activation. Adds customizable theft alerts in the Ford App, plus 24/7 access to dedicated Ford agents who can track your vehicle and work with law enforcement on recovery efforts if it goes missing.
• Rear Seat Entertainment is now optional on Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch — new for 2026. Includes 60W USB ports built into the screens.
• Digital Device Holder is now standard on Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch — built-in tablet/device mount for second-row passengers, with 60W USB ports in front-row seatbacks.
• Black Painted Roof option (90A) — now optional on all Platinum and King Ranch configurations.
• Power Panoramic Vista Roof® with Power Shade — now optional on Active Touring (202A).

A few items have been retired for 2026: Wild Green paint is gone, the 22" x 9.0" Ebony Painted Aluminum Wheel (64T) is no longer offered, the Charged Air Cooler with Fan on Tremor has been deleted (the new Tremor uses a different cooling setup), and the Wireless Charging Pad has been removed.

What trim levels are available for the 2026 Expedition?

The 2026 Expedition is offered in four retail trims at Jay Malone Ford. The XL configuration exists but is fleet-only (Special Service Vehicle, 102A SSV) and isn’t available to retail buyers. Here’s the retail lineup:

Active. The family-focused entry trim, available in two equipment groups: Active Select (200A) and Active Touring (202A). Standard equipment includes the 400-hp 3.5L EcoBoost V6, 10-speed automatic, 18" Dark Alloy-painted aluminum wheels, 24" panoramic display + 13.2" center display, Ford Digital Experience with Google Assistant and Google Maps, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, Tri-Zone Automatic Temperature Control, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, Ford Security Package (1-year), and 8-passenger seating with a manual fold 40/20/40 second-row bench. What engines and transmissions are offered?

Two engines are available in the 2026 Expedition. Both are versions of the same 3.5L EcoBoost V6, paired with a 10-speed SelectShift® Automatic Transmission across the entire lineup.

3.5L EcoBoost® V6 with Auto Stop-Start Technology — 400 horsepower. Standard on Active, Platinum (without Ultimate or Stealth Performance Package), and King Ranch. Paired with the 10-speed automatic.

3.5L EcoBoost® V6 High-Output — 440 horsepower / 510 lb-ft of torque. Standard on Tremor. Required when ordering the Platinum Ultimate Package or Stealth Performance Package.

Both engines run on regular fuel and pair with the same 10-speed SelectShift Automatic. The Tremor and any HO-equipped Platinum add Engine Sound Enhancer with Active Noise Cancellation, plus a High Flow Exhaust System.

Drivetrain options vary by trim. Active is offered as 4x2 or 4x4. Tremor is 4x4 only. Platinum and King Ranch are 4x4 only. The 4x4 system uses Intelligent 4WD with Ford’s Terrain Management System, including Selectable Drive Modes: Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Eco, Slippery, and Off-Road. The Tremor adds Rock Crawl mode for a total of seven drive modes.

The all-new 2026 Expedition Tremor

The 2026 Tremor is the most significant new addition to the Expedition lineup in years. It’s the Expedition’s first off-road-focused trim, and it brings real off-road hardware that didn’t exist on any previous Expedition.

Expedition vs. Expedition MAX

The Expedition is offered in two body lengths. The MAX adds up to 11.8 inches of extra cargo length and up to 37.4 cubic feet of additional cargo room behind the third row compared to the standard wheelbase. For families that regularly carry passengers and luggage simultaneously on long trips, the MAX is meaningfully more practical.

Trim availability by length:

• Active: available in standard length and MAX, 4x2 or 4x4
• Tremor: standard length only, 4x4 only
• Platinum: available in standard length and MAX, 4x4 only
• King Ranch: available in standard length and MAX, 4x4 only

If you want the off-road capability of the Tremor, you’re committing to standard length. If you regularly carry seven or eight people with luggage on family trips, the MAX is the better fit. The MAX 4x2 Active configuration also adds an extra 300 pounds of towing capacity (6,300 lbs total) compared to the standard 4x2 Active.

Every 2026 Expedition runs the Ford Digital Experience on a 24" panoramic display paired with a 13.2" center stack display — standard across the entire lineup including the fleet-only XL. The system includes Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store built in, plus wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

Ford Connectivity Package includes 1 year free from warranty start date. Adds 5G connectivity for Ford Digital Experience, unlimited Wi-Fi hotspot, audio and video streaming, productivity features (video conferencing, web browser), voice assistant, and entertainment. After Year 1, you can pay month-to-month or buy the 7-year one-time purchase package (option code 65B).

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is standard on every retail trim — even Active. Includes 360-Degree Camera with Lane Change Preview, Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Predictive Speed Assist, and Stop & Go, Auto High Beams, Blind Spot Assist, BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Lane-Keeping System (Alert, Assist, Driver Alert, Road Edge Protection), Pre-Collision Assist with AEB (Pedestrian Protection, Forward Collision Warning, Dynamic Brake Support), Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, Post-Collision Braking, Rear View Camera with Camera Wash, and Reverse Brake Assist.

BlueCruise pricing structure:

• BlueCruise Equipped (90-Day Trial) — included on Tremor and Platinum retail orders. Hands-free highway driving on prequalified Blue Zone highways. After the 90-day trial, a subscription is required to continue use.
• BlueCruise Equipped (1-Year + 90-Day Plan, option 55B) — standard on King Ranch. Available as a factory option on other trims at time of vehicle order.
• BlueCruise Equipped (One-Time Purchase, option 55C) — available as a factory option. Activates BlueCruise for a minimum of 7 years on the vehicle (non-transferable to another VIN). No additional subscription required for the duration.

Important: if you don’t select BlueCruise hardware at time of vehicle order — either as the included 90-day trial, the 1-year + 90-day plan, or the one-time purchase — the vehicle will never be capable of BlueCruise functionality. This is a hardware decision made at the factory, not something that can be added later. If BlueCruise matters to you, make sure it’s on your build sheet.

Audio: Active runs an AM/FM stereo with six speakers and SiriusXM 360L (3-month trial). Tremor and Platinum upgrade to the B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with 10 speakers including subwoofer. King Ranch tops the lineup with the B&O Unleashed Sound System with 22 speakers including subwoofer.

Towing and family hauling capability

Available max towing of up to 9,600 lbs when properly equipped puts the 2026 Expedition in a different league than crossover SUVs. For most central Minnesota uses — family campers, fishing boats, pontoons, side-by-side trailers, horse trailers — that’s plenty of headroom.

Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package is standard on Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch, and optional on Active 4x4. Includes:

How does the 2026 Expedition handle Minnesota winters?

Available Intelligent 4WD with Slippery drive mode standard on every 4x4 retail trim, available heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats on Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch, available heated steering wheel, scheduled remote start (with the 10-speed automatic), and an available engine block heater (option 41H, $100-ish factory option) make the 2026 Expedition well-suited to central Minnesota winter conditions.

Standard equipment for cold-weather operation includes Tri-Zone Automatic Temperature Control, rear auxiliary climate controls, cabin particulate air filter, heated power glass mirrors, and Hill Descent Control on 4x4 trims. Auto Stop-Start can be temporarily disabled when the vehicle senses cold conditions to keep the cabin warm.

For Minnesota buyers we recommend the engine block heater on virtually every order — the cost is modest, the install happens at the factory, and the benefit on -10°F mornings is significant. Pair it with the 10-speed automatic and Mid-Package or higher trims for scheduled remote start, and your worst January mornings turn into something tolerable.

Eight exterior paint colors are available across the 2026 Expedition lineup, though specific colors are limited to specific trims and packages. Marsh Gray is new for 2026.
