What is the biggest change for the 2027 Ford Expedition?
The biggest change for the 2027 Ford Expedition is the addition of the all-new Tremor off-road trim, which brings a 440-horsepower High Output engine, modified Raptor skid plates, all-terrain tires, and real off-road hardware to the full-size Expedition platform for the first time.
Beyond the Tremor, Ford added four other major updates for 2027: a 30th Anniversary Appearance Package commemorating 30 years of the Expedition nameplate, a Family Travel Package for Active Touring buyers, three new paint colors, and expanded BlueCruise hands-free availability. Laminated windshield is now standard across the entire lineup, and 4x2 is newly available on Platinum Elite, the Stealth Appearance Package, and King Ranch.
Is the Tremor a new trim for 2027?
Yes. The 2027 Ford Expedition Tremor is brand-new for this model year. There was no Tremor trim on the 2026 Expedition.
The Tremor is 4x4 only and pairs the High Output 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (440 HP, 510 lb-ft) with a 3.73 electronic locking rear differential, modified higher-ride suspension, Raptor-style skid plates with fuel tank underbody protection, and P275/70R18E all-terrain tires. It includes Trail Control with Trail One Pedal Drive and Trail Turn Assist, a Rock Crawl drive mode, and a 360-degree camera with off-road overlays.
For a full breakdown of the Tremor — standard equipment, interior spec, optional packages, colors — see our 2027 Ford Expedition Tremor specs and features guide.
What is the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package?
The 30th Anniversary Appearance Package (order code 91A) is a new optional package for 2027 Platinum that commemorates 30 years of the Ford Expedition nameplate. It’s the most exclusive configuration in the 2027 Expedition lineup.
Package contents:
- 22-inch x 9-inch Ebony Bright Machined Painted Aluminum wheels with P275/50R22 A/S BSW tires
- Black beltline molding
- Exclusive “30th Anniversary” and “Expedition” lettering on the liftgate in black
- Cargo organizer
- Tray-style floor liners, front and second rows
- Carbon Black front bumper and fascia
- Ebony painted grille
- Black-bezel headlamps with Ebony trim applique
- Laminated rear side glass
- Unique front and rear scuff plates — black onyx with satin aluminum 30th Anniversary lettering and inner racetrack
- “MAX” badge in black when equipped with Expedition MAX
- Unique center console with embossment
- Platinum Interior Accent Package included
The 30th Anniversary Package is only available in three paint colors — Agate Black Metallic, Star White Metallic Tri-coat, or the exclusive Blue Ember Metallic — and it requires a Salt Crystal Gray interior. Blue Ember Metallic is the most limited-production paint option in the entire 2027 lineup because it can only be ordered with this package.
What is the new Family Travel Package?
The Family Travel Package (order code 90T) is a new optional package for 2027 Active Touring. It’s designed for families who spend real miles with three rows of passengers and want the features that make long drives easier.
Package contents:
- 360-Degree Zone Lighting
- Digital Device Holder with 60W USB ports in the front seat backs
- Flex Powered Console
- Power Panoramic Vista Roof with power shade
- Third Row 40/20/40 PowerFold Flexible Seating
- Third Row Remote Power-Folding Head Restraints (remote button located in the overhead console)
- Remote Start
For Minnesota families, a few of these features punch above their weight. The 360-Degree Zone Lighting is genuinely useful when you’re loading gear in a dark parking lot after a late hockey game in Willmar or a summer evening lake trip in Kandiyohi County. The third-row head restraints that power-fold from the overhead console mean you can drop the back row without walking around to the liftgate — valuable when you’re standing in a rainy arena lot with arms full of equipment. And the 60W USB ports in the front seat backs charge phones and tablets fast enough to keep up with a carload of kids on a road trip.
What changed with BlueCruise for 2027?
BlueCruise hands-free highway driving now comes with a 90-day trial included on more 2027 Expedition configurations than 2026. Specifically, BlueCruise Equipped with 90-day trial is now standard on Active Touring retail orders, standard on Tremor, and standard on Platinum (retail). It’s included with a one-year plus 90-day plan on King Ranch.
After the trial period, buyers have two extension paths at the point of sale:
- One-year plus 90-day subscription (option 55B) — adds more time before a subscription decision is required.
- One-time seven-year purchase (option 55C) — BlueCruise active for a minimum of 7 years on the vehicle (non-transferable to another VIN). No additional subscription purchase required to maintain service beyond the 7 years if the service remains available.
If BlueCruise matters to you long-term, the seven-year one-time purchase option is a new 2027 addition worth understanding before you order.
What new colors are available for 2027 and what was discontinued?
Ford added three new paint colors to the 2027 Expedition lineup and discontinued two. Oxford White is now fleet only.
New for 2027:
- Bronze Fire Metallic Tri-coat — a deep warm bronze available on Active, Tremor, Platinum (non-30th Anniversary), and King Ranch
- Nocturnal Blue Metallic — a darker, more sophisticated blue available on Active, Tremor, and Platinum (non-30th Anniversary)
- Blue Ember Metallic — exclusive to Platinum with the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package
Discontinued for 2027:
- Space Silver Metallic
- Stone Blue Metallic
- Oxford White is now fleet-only for retail buyers
If you have your heart set on Stone Blue or Space Silver, your window to order it on a new Expedition closes at the end of the 2026 model year.
What exterior changes are on the 2027 Expedition?
Exterior changes for 2027 are targeted rather than sweeping, mostly on the Platinum trim and its related packages:
- Laminated windshield is now standard on every 2027 Expedition — the entire lineup gets the quieter cabin glass
- Platinum Elite (600A) replaced the chrome-with-black-end-caps roof rails with Black Roof Rails. Platinum Ultimate (17A) retains the chrome-with-black-end-caps version.
- Platinum (600A) got a Fixed Air Dam up front as standard
- Active 4x4 models (200A and 202A), Platinum (600A), and King Ranch now get an Active Air Dam as standard (not available with Stealth Appearance, Stealth Performance, or 30th Anniversary packages)
- Tremor (501A) and Platinum Elite (600A) got a Black Tailgate Applique as standard. Platinum Ultimate (17A) retains the Lit Tailgate Applique.
- Platinum Elite (600A) got an Ebony Painted Grille as standard. Platinum Ultimate (17A) retains the Lit Grille Bar.
What interior changes are on the 2027 Expedition?
Interior updates are specific to certain trims and packages:
- The Platinum Interior Accent Package is now standard when the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package is ordered
- Third-row seats on Active Touring (202A) are now Vinyl with Auto Retract Head Restraints
- The Wireless Charging Pad is now included with the Driver’s Package on Tremor and Platinum, and standard on King Ranch
The Wireless Charging Pad change is a small spec on paper, but it’s the kind of feature that matters every day. If you’re looking at Tremor or Platinum, the Driver’s Package now becomes an even stronger-value option than it was on the 2026.
What changed with Ford Security Package and Connectivity for 2027?
Ford added new one-time seven-year purchase options for both the Ford Security Package and Ford Connectivity Package on the 2027 Expedition. This is a meaningful change in how these connected services are sold.
On 2026 Expeditions, Ford Connectivity Package included a one-year trial with annual renewals after. On 2027, buyers can choose between:
- The standard one-year included plan with annual renewals (as before), or
- A one-time seven-year purchase (option 65B) that locks in the service for seven years on that specific VIN (non-transferable) with no additional renewal required for that duration if the service remains available
The same one-time seven-year option (code 67D) is now available for the Ford Security Package, which includes theft alerts, start inhibit, stolen vehicle services, and deductible reimbursement.
For buyers who plan to keep their 2027 Expedition long-term, the one-time seven-year purchase is worth a conversation — it removes seven years of renewal paperwork and locks in current pricing.
How has the 2027 Expedition trim lineup changed?
The series lineup is XL (fleet only), Active (Select and Touring), Tremor (new), Platinum, and King Ranch. Expedition MAX (extended length) is available on XL, Active, Platinum, and King Ranch. Tremor is standard body length only.
A few trim-related availability changes worth knowing:
- 4x2 is newly available on Platinum Elite (600A), the Stealth Appearance Package (60D), and King Ranch — prior years required 4x4 on those configurations
- Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow (61E) is now optional on 4x4 Active Touring, Platinum 4x4, and the Stealth Appearance Package, and standard when the Stealth Performance Package or Platinum Ultimate Package is ordered
- The Trailer Tow Prep Package is standard on Active Touring (202A) and 4x2 Platinum (600A)
- Driver’s Package (59J) is now optional on Tremor, Stealth Appearance Package, and the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package
- SecuriCode Keyless Entry Illuminated Keypad (94E) is now standard on King Ranch, and standard when Platinum is ordered with the 30th Anniversary, Stealth Performance, or Ultimate packages
Should I buy a 2026 now or wait for a 2027?
It depends on what you want and how flexible your timeline is. Here’s an honest framework:
Wait for a 2027 if:
- You want the Tremor — it does not exist on the 2026 Expedition
- You want the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package or Blue Ember Metallic paint
- You want BlueCruise standard on Active Touring — it’s only standard on 2027
- You plan to own the vehicle seven-plus years and want the new one-time seven-year Connectivity or Security packages
- Your current vehicle still has life and you’re not in a hurry
Buy a 2026 now if:
- You need the vehicle in the next few months — Ford has not announced a 2027 on-sale date
- You want Stone Blue Metallic or Space Silver Metallic paint — both are discontinued for 2027
- You’re not interested in off-road capability and the standard Platinum or King Ranch meets your needs
- Current 2026 incentives or financing offers outweigh the 2027 feature additions for your use case
- Your trade value is strong right now and waiting could erode it
For most buyers, the right answer is “it depends on which feature you can’t live without.” If you want the Tremor specifically, there is no substitute on the 2026 lot — reserve and wait. If your must-haves are already available in Platinum or King Ranch on the 2026, buying now might be the cleaner play.
Either way, we’re happy to talk through it with you. Come in for a test drive of a current Expedition, we’ll pull a trade value on your current vehicle, and if a 2027 reservation is the right call we’ll get you in line the same day.

2027 Ford Expedition Changes FAQ
Is the 2027 Ford Expedition a full redesign or a refresh?
The 2027 Expedition is a significant model-year update rather than a full ground-up redesign. The biggest changes are the addition of the Tremor trim, the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package, the Family Travel Package, three new paint colors, and expanded BlueCruise availability. The core platform and body architecture carry over from 2026.
When will the 2027 Ford Expedition be available?
Ford has not announced a specific on-sale date for the 2027 Expedition. Industry reports point to late 2026 into early 2027. Jay Malone Ford updates reservation holders as soon as firm timing is confirmed.
Is the 2027 Expedition Tremor available in the MAX body length?
No. The Tremor is only available in the standard Expedition body length. The extended-length MAX body is available on XL, Active, Platinum, and King Ranch.
What paint colors were discontinued from the 2026 Expedition?
Space Silver Metallic and Stone Blue Metallic are discontinued for 2027. Oxford White is now fleet-only, so retail buyers can no longer order it.
Is the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package available on any Expedition trim?
No. The 30th Anniversary Appearance Package is only available on the Platinum trim. It requires Salt Crystal Gray interior and is limited to three paint colors: Agate Black Metallic, Star White Metallic Tri-coat, or the exclusive Blue Ember Metallic.
Should I wait for a 2027 Expedition or buy a 2026 now?
Wait for a 2027 if you want the Tremor, the 30th Anniversary Package, Blue Ember Metallic paint, BlueCruise standard on Active Touring, or the new seven-year Connectivity or Security options. Buy a 2026 now if you need the vehicle in the next few months, want a discontinued color like Stone Blue or Space Silver, or the 2026 trim lineup already meets your needs.
