Why reserve a 2027 Transit now?
Transit buyers already understand how this works. Work vans don’t come off the lot — they come from the factory, built the way your operation needs them, on the timeline you plan around. That’s especially true for the 2027 Transit, which gives buyers more configuration choices than almost any commercial van on the market: Cargo Van, Passenger Van XL, Passenger Van XLT, Cutaway, or Chassis Cab, in three roof heights, two wheelbases, three overall lengths, with either gas or electric powertrains.
Whether you’re running a contractor crew, a plumbing or HVAC operation, a delivery business, a school or church shuttle program, a mobility upfit, or a service body build, the 2027 Transit can be configured around your work. Reserving early gets your exact spec in the queue before allocation tightens up.
Reserving at Jay Malone Ford is free, no obligation, and takes about two minutes. We work with single-truck buyers, multi-vehicle fleet orders, and upfit-ready chassis customers regularly.
Who’s ordering 2027 Transits at Jay Malone Ford
The Transit’s configurability makes it the right answer for a wide range of operations across central Minnesota. A few examples:
Trades and contractors
Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, flooring, framing — Transit cargo vans configured with shelving and tool organization keep your crews productive and your tools secure.
Delivery and small business
Last-mile delivery, courier services, e-commerce fulfillment, small business distribution — the Cargo Van is built around payload, cargo volume, and route efficiency.
Schools and churches
Passenger Van XL and XLT configurations are a go-to for school districts, daycares, technical college fleets, athletic teams, and church shuttle programs across central Minnesota.
Upfit-ready and chassis cab
Cutaway and Chassis Cab configurations ship ready for body builders — service bodies, dump bodies, refrigerated boxes, mobility conversions, ambulance and emergency upfits, RV and shuttle conversions.
Municipal and government fleet
City and county departments, parks and recreation, public works, township maintenance — Transit fleet orders with valid FIN codes welcome.
E-Transit for electric fleet
The Transit is available in both gas and full electric (E-Transit) powertrains. For fixed-route delivery, shuttle, or commercial operations with home-base charging, the E-Transit is a real total-cost-of-ownership consideration.
What’s new for the 2027 Transit
Several meaningful updates for 2027:
- Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) with On/Off Cluster Controllability — now standard on Cargo Van and Passenger Van XL/XLT
- Iconic Silver Metallic (JS) — new paint color (replaces the discontinued Ingot Silver Metallic)
- Ford Security Package (1-year included) — now standard on Cargo Van and Passenger Van XL/XLT, with a new one-time seven-year purchase option (68D) available
- Perimeter Alarm — now standard on Cargo Van and Passenger Van XL/XLT
- NACS Fast Charging Adapter — now optional (61B) rather than included with the Mobile Power Cord (E-Transit)
- Connected Navigation Hardware (19A) — now optional
- Exterior Lighting (943) — now optional on Medium Roof and High Roof
For the official Transit body code reference, Ford maintains a Transit body decoder on their FordPro site — useful if you’re specifying a particular roof, wheelbase, or length configuration for an upfit.

Before you inquire
Does inquiring about a 2027 Transit cost anything?
No. There’s no deposit, no fee, and no commitment. Inquiring simply tells us what configuration you’re looking for so we can prioritize your build when 2027 Transit allocations open.
When will the 2027 Transit arrive at Jay Malone Ford?
Ford has not announced a specific on-sale date yet. We’ll update inquiry holders the moment we have firm timing — you’ll hear from us before the general public does.
Can I order a fleet of Transits at once?
Yes. We work with multi-vehicle fleet orders regularly — for trades businesses, delivery operations, school districts, churches, municipal fleets, and commercial upfit programs. Tell us how many units you need and the configurations when you reach out. If you have a valid FIN code, mention it.
Can I order a Transit chassis cab or cutaway for upfit?
Yes. Cutaway and Chassis Cab configurations are exactly what most upfitters need as a starting point. Tell us your intended upfit when you inquire — service body, dump body, refrigerated box, mobility conversion, ambulance, shuttle, or RV/conversion — and we’ll help spec the base vehicle to match what your upfitter requires.
What’s the difference between Passenger Van XL and Passenger Van XLT?
Both seat passengers (configurable up to 15 depending on roof height and length). The XL is the more value-focused trim with the core commercial-grade equipment. The XLT adds more comfort and convenience features for operations where passenger experience matters — schools, churches, athletic teams, and hospitality. Reach out and we’ll walk you through which fits your specific operation.
Can I order an E-Transit (electric)?
Yes. The 2027 Transit is available in either gas or full electric (E-Transit) powertrains. For 2027, the NACS Fast Charging Adapter is now optional (option 61B) rather than included with the Mobile Power Cord, and the Connected Navigation Hardware is available as an option. If you’re considering E-Transit for a fixed-route delivery, shuttle, or commercial operation with home-base charging, we’d be happy to talk through the total-cost-of-ownership comparison vs. gas.
Can I change my preferences later?
Absolutely. Your inquiry is a starting point, not a contract. Change configurations, change powertrains, change unit counts, or walk away — whatever works for your operation.
Will Jay Malone Ford charge extra to order or locate my Transit?
No. We’ve never charged extra to factory-order or locate a vehicle and we’re not about to start. You pay what the window sticker says, plus applicable tax, title, and license. That’s it.
Family-owned. Hutchinson-based. Built around work.
Central Minnesota runs on work vans — trades crews working the Highway 7 corridor between Hutchinson and the metro, plumbers and HVAC techs covering McLeod and Meeker counties, school districts running shuttle and special transportation programs, churches making service calls and senior pickups, fleets supporting local manufacturing and agriculture. Jay Malone Ford has been selling and servicing commercial Ford trucks and vans since 2005. We know how operations around here actually use them, and we know what it takes to spec one right.
When your 2027 Transit arrives, the same family and the same team that took your inquiry will be the ones handing you the keys — and the ones servicing it for as long as you operate it.
