The 2026 Ford Super Duty® lineup at Jay Malone Ford spans five retail trims — XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch®, and Platinum® — each built around a different kind of buyer. Picking the right one comes down to how you actually use a heavy-duty truck: stripped-down work truck for fleet and contractor use, family-friendly XLT, comfort-focused Lariat for personal use, distinctive King Ranch luxury, or top-tier Platinum with Platinum Plus Package for the ultimate equipment level. This guide walks through every retail trim, what each one includes as standard, what packages and options matter most, and which one fits which buyer. The lineup also includes major appearance and capability packages — STX Appearance, Black Appearance, Chrome, FX4 Off-Road, and the Tremor Off-Road Package — that further customize each trim.

Before walking through trim-by-trim differences, here’s what every 2026 retail Super Duty includes regardless of trim:
In other words: even the XL is built with the same fundamental Super Duty capability — same engines available, same transmission, same towing hardware, same brakes. What separates the trims is comfort equipment, technology, exterior styling, interior materials, and which features come standard versus optional.
XL is the entry retail trim, built primarily for fleet, commercial, and contractor use. It strips away the comfort and styling features to deliver Super Duty capability at the most accessible price point. Don’t mistake “entry” for “limited” — the XL has the same engine choices, towing capability, and frame as the higher trims.
Standard on XL:
NEW for 2026 on XL:
Worth knowing about XL:
Best fit: fleet operations, commercial buyers, contractors who treat the truck as a tool, and budget-conscious personal-use buyers who want Super Duty capability without paying for leather and luxury equipment. The 6.8L gas with manual locking hubs and an XL trim level is the most affordable path to a real heavy-duty truck.
XLT is the volume retail trim — the level most personal-use Super Duty buyers end up at. It adds chrome styling, comfort features, and Pro Power Onboard 400W without crossing into Lariat-level pricing.
XLT includes everything in XL, plus:
NEW for 2026 on XLT:
Available packages on XLT:
Best fit: personal-use buyers, family ranches, weekend warriors, contractors who want some comfort and styling, and the buyer who wants real Super Duty capability without going Lariat. XLT is also the right starting point for buyers planning to add Tremor or FX4 packages — it’s the most affordable trim those packages are available on.
Lariat is where the Super Duty becomes a genuinely comfortable personal-use truck. Heated and ventilated leather, dual-zone climate, the 12-inch digital cluster, LED lighting throughout, full Co-Pilot360 standard equipment. For buyers who use the truck as a daily driver and family hauler in addition to work duty, Lariat is the sweet spot.
Lariat includes everything in XLT, plus:
Worth knowing about Lariat:
Available packages on Lariat:
Best fit: the personal-use buyer who wants comfort, technology, and Super Duty capability all at once. Daily-driver heavy-duty truck buyers, families using the truck for both work and recreation, weekend RV haulers, and the customer cross-shopping a Lariat F-150 or Ram Laramie HD. Lariat with the Tremor Off-Road Package (option 17Y) is one of our most-popular configurations for buyers who want both luxury features and serious off-road capability.
King Ranch brings Southwest-themed luxury to the Super Duty. The 7.3L gas V8 becomes the standard engine (with diesel optional), the interior is wrapped in unique Kingsville Antique Affect leather, and the truck takes on a distinctive aesthetic that’s unlike anything else in the Ford lineup or the heavy-duty segment broadly.
King Ranch includes everything in Lariat, plus:
Worth knowing about King Ranch:
Available packages on King Ranch:
Best fit: the buyer who wants something distinctive in the heavy-duty market. King Ranch interiors are unlike anything else — the Kingsville Antique Affect leather, the Southwest aesthetic, the Java color treatment. Pair it with the standard 7.3L Godzilla engine and you’ve got luxury heavy-duty hauler. If “something different from a Ram Laramie Longhorn or Silverado HD High Country” matters to you, King Ranch delivers a unique aesthetic the others simply don’t match.
Platinum is the flagship Super Duty trim — the most equipment, the most luxury features, and the foundation for the Platinum Plus Package which represents the maximum-equipment configuration in the entire lineup.
Platinum includes:
Worth knowing about Platinum:
Available packages on Platinum:
Best fit: luxury Super Duty buyers who want maximum equipment without going King Ranch’s Southwestern aesthetic. Buyers who plan to add the Platinum Plus Package — which requires the HO Power Stroke and represents the maximum capability and luxury combination available in the lineup. Cross-shoppers from Ram Limited, Silverado HD High Country, or other flagship heavy-duty trucks.
The Platinum Plus Package (option 17W) represents the most-equipped Super Duty available. It requires the 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke diesel engine and turns the Platinum into a genuinely flagship-level truck.
Platinum Plus Package adds:
Platinum Plus Experience services included:
Bottom line on Platinum Plus: if you want the maximum capability AND maximum luxury combination available in a Super Duty, this is the configuration. The 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke (500 hp / 1,200 lb-ft), the 2 kW Pro Power Onboard, the six upfitter switches for serious upfitting, and the Smoked Truffle Premium interior — this is the heavy-duty truck flagship configuration.
Beyond the trim choice itself, the Super Duty offers significant package customization. The major packages worth knowing about:

Black Appearance Package (17L). Available on XLT and Lariat. Murdered-out aesthetic. Includes 6" Ebony Black Angular Running Boards, 20" Ebony Black High-Gloss Black Premium Painted Aluminum Wheels, Front/Rear Ebony Black Wheel Ornaments, LT275/65R 20E BSW A/T tires, Black Ford Oval Logos front and rear, body-color front and rear bumper, Box Side Decal (4x4, FX4 or Tremor), Dark Fender Badge Ebony Black Fender Vent Surround (Lariat only), Black Painted Front Grille Surround, Ebony Black painted Mirror Caps (Lariat only), Rear Wheel Well Liners, Tough Bed (Spray-In Bedliner with Tailgate Guard).

Tremor Off-Road Package (17Y). Available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. Requires 4x4, 7.3L gas or 6.7L diesel engines, Crew Cab, and TorqShift Automatic Transmission. The most off-road-capable Super Duty package — 35" tires, electronic locking rear differential, off-road shocks, skid plates, Rock Crawl mode, Trail Control. Some specific buyer profiles based on conversations on the Hutchinson sales floor:
The fleet operator or commercial buyer. XL F-250 4x4 with 6.8L gas. Most affordable Super Duty configuration. Add Snowplow Prep Package if running plows. Optional STX Appearance Package for some visual upgrade without leaving the XL pricing structure.
The contractor running tools and trailers. XLT 4x4 SuperCab or Crew Cab with 7.3L gas, Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, optional FX4 Off-Road Package for jobsite access. Pro Power Onboard 400W standard. The right combination of capability, comfort, and price.
The family ranch or small farm. Lariat 4x4 Crew Cab with 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. Heated leather, dual-zone climate, 12-inch digital cluster, full Co-Pilot360. Diesel for trailer hauling and long highway runs. The Lariat sweet spot for buyers who use the truck for both work and family duty.
The serious recreational tower. Lariat or Platinum F-350 SRW with 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, Pro Trailer Backup Assist (Lariat Premium Package adds it; standard on Platinum). For larger campers or fifth-wheels, F-350 DRW.
The deer hunter / outdoorsman who wants real off-road capability. Lariat or Platinum 4x4 Crew Cab with Tremor Off-Road Package (option 17Y) and qualifying engine. 35" off-road tires, electronic locking rear differential, Rock Crawl mode, skid plates. The most off-road-capable Super Duty.
The horse trailer hauler. Lariat or King Ranch F-350 SRW or DRW with 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. Strong tow capacity and stability. King Ranch is a popular choice for showgrounds — the distinctive Southwestern aesthetic stands out at events.
The maximum-capability and maximum-luxury buyer. Platinum Plus Package on Platinum with the 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke diesel. 500 hp / 1,200 lb-ft, 2 kW Pro Power Onboard, six upfitter switches, twin-panel moonroof, Smoked Truffle premium interior. The flagship configuration of the entire 2026 Super Duty lineup.
The snowplow operator. XLT or Lariat 4x4 with Snowplow Prep Package. Computer-selected snowplow springs, upgraded alternator. For commercial plowing, XLT keeps cost down; for personal-use plowing of a long driveway, Lariat adds the comfort features.
The buyer cross-shopping the Silverado HD High Country, Ram Laramie Limited, or RAM 2500 Heavy Duty. Platinum or King Ranch. Both are flagship-level configurations with different visual languages. Our complete competitor comparison is coming soon and will be linked here when published.
Key Takeaways
XLT adds chrome bumpers and grille (vs black painted on XL), halogen fog lamps, 18-inch Sparkle Silver painted cast aluminum wheels (vs 17-inch argent painted steel), Pro Power Onboard 400W (one dash outlet, one rear console), color-coordinated full carpet (vs black vinyl), color-coordinated cloth interior trim, and four pickup box tie-down plates. XLT is a meaningful step up from XL — the most popular retail trim for that reason. Both share the same engine options, transmission, and base capability.
The 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke (500 hp / 1,200 lb-ft) is optional on all retail F-250/F-350 trims (XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum) when configuration allows. It’s required for the Platinum Plus Package (17W). It’s also one of the engines required for the Tremor Off-Road Package. Some configurations (like F-250 with HO diesel and certain wheelbases) have specific availability restrictions.
The Lariat Ultimate Package (96U) requires the Lariat Premium Package (96W) and the 40/console/40 seat configuration. It’s not available with the 6.8L gas engine. It adds 4-Way Adjustable Headrests, B&O Unleashed Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with HD Radio (14 speakers including subwoofer), Head-Up Display, Power Running Board, and Tailgate Step. It’s the closest a Lariat gets to flagship luxury equipment, and a popular configuration for buyers who want premium Lariat features without going King Ranch or Platinum.
It’s a substantial step up. Platinum Plus requires the 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke diesel (the standard Platinum can have any engine), and adds the unique Smoked Truffle premium interior, premium Venetian leather throughout, suede-wrapped pillars, premium leather grab handles, the unique split center console with premium wood insert, multicontour Max Recline 10-way power driver and 8-way passenger seats, Pro Power Onboard 2 kW (versus 400W standard on Platinum), six upfitter switches, twin-panel power moonroof, satin chrome exterior accents, 20-inch Bright Machined and Carbonized Gray wheels, and the included Premium Maintenance Plan. If you want the maximum equipment Super Duty available, Platinum Plus is the answer. For buyers who don’t need the HO diesel or the 2 kW Pro Power Onboard, standard Platinum delivers most of the luxury features at a more accessible price point.
No. The Tremor Off-Road Package (17Y) is available only on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. It requires 4x4, Crew Cab, TorqShift Automatic Transmission (44G), and one of the qualifying engines (7.3L gas, 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, or 6.7L HO Power Stroke diesel). For XL buyers wanting off-road capability, the FX4 Off-Road Package (17X) is the alternative — available on all 4x4 pickups.
The Tremor Off-Road Package’s suspension geometry, off-road tires, and modified ride height are tuned around the standard 6.75-foot box configuration. The 8-foot box adds wheelbase and changes weight distribution in ways that are incompatible with the Tremor’s off-road tuning. Tremor buyers who need an 8-foot bed for fifth-wheel hitch use should look at FX4 Off-Road Package on a higher trim instead, or consider whether the 6.75-foot box can accommodate their needs.
FX4 Off-Road Package (17X) is the lighter off-road option — available on all 4x4 pickups. Includes Hill Descent Control, off-road tuned shocks, skid plates (transfer case and fuel tank), all-terrain tires (F-250/F-350) or traction tires (F-450), electronic locking differential (SRW). Tremor Off-Road Package (17Y) is the full off-road conversion — only available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum 4x4 Crew Cab with qualifying engines. Tremor adds 35-inch off-road tires, ride-height increase, performance shock absorbers, off-road running boards, water fording vent tubes, Rock Crawl Mode, Trail Control Mode, Trail Turn Assist, and the rear electronic locking differential. Tremor is closer to a Raptor in heavy-duty form.
