The 2026 Ford Transit® Cargo Van’s factory Trade Packages give tradespeople a starting point that’s already configured for the work — substantially better than starting with an empty cargo van and adding aftermarket shelving. Four factory-installed Trade and Shelving Package options are available: the Electrician Trade Package (66K), the HVAC Trade Package (66L), the General Contractor Trade Package (66M), and the Shelving Package (66H). All four are now available in Extended Long Length (LWB-EL) configurations for 2026 — meaning tradespeople can finally spec maximum cargo capacity AND factory shelving and upfit in one order. Pair with Pro Power Onboard™ (400W standard or 2.4 kW available), Cab Steel Bulkhead, Auxiliary A/C and Heater, Engine Block Heater, available 250 amp Dual Alternator, and upfitter switches, and you have a factory-equipped trade van that’s ready to work the day it arrives. This guide walks through every Trade Package, what each one includes and which trade it fits, the upfit options that matter, and which configuration is right for which contractor in central Minnesota.

Why factory Trade Packages beat aftermarket upfit
Many tradespeople order a base Cargo Van and add aftermarket shelving from a third-party shop. That approach works, but factory Trade Packages offer real advantages:
- Factory integration with the van. Shelving and trade upfit are installed before the truck leaves the factory, configured around the specific roof height and cargo dimensions of your van. Aftermarket installs require coordination, additional time, and sometimes return trips for adjustment.
- Factory warranty integration. The Trade Package shelving is covered under Ford’s factory warranty, not a separate aftermarket warranty. Simpler claim process if anything goes wrong.
- Lower total cost. Factory-installed shelving and trade upfit typically costs less than equivalent aftermarket installations when you factor in the labor, time off the road, and coordination overhead.
- Ready the day it arrives. The van is ready to work the day you take delivery — no additional installation time before you can use it for jobs.
- Predictable quality and fit. Factory shelving is built to standard configurations with consistent quality. Aftermarket shelving quality varies by installer.
- Resale value. Factory Trade Packages typically retain value better than aftermarket installations on the used market.
When aftermarket makes more sense. For highly customized trade applications with unusual storage requirements, very specific shelving configurations that don’t match Ford’s factory packages, or specialty trade work outside the three covered trades, aftermarket installation through a body builder may be the right answer. For most electrician, HVAC, and general contractor applications, the factory Trade Package is the better starting point.
Electrician Trade Package (66K)
The Electrician Trade Package is factory shelving and upfit specifically configured for electrical contractor work. Designed around the typical inventory of electrical contractors: spools of wire and conduit, electrical fittings, switches and receptacles, breakers, tools, ladders, and other electrician-specific gear.
What’s typically included:
- Factory-installed shelving system configured for electrical contractor storage
- Bins and dividers sized for electrical fittings, connectors, and smaller parts
- Larger shelf areas for cable spools, conduit, and tools
- Designed around the Cargo Van’s specific roof height and length
- Standard pairing options include Cab Steel Bulkhead, Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G), or Pro Power Onboard 2.4 kW (90E)
What you need to add (typically required):
- Cab Steel Bulkhead — required for most Trade Package configurations. Separates cab from cargo area for safety and climate control.
- Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G) — provides climate control to the bulkhead-separated cargo area. Matters when working in the cargo area for extended periods in summer heat or winter cold.
- Pro Power Onboard 2.4 kW (90E) — for jobsite power. Many electrical contractors find this is more useful than 400W for running corded tools.
Best fit for Electrician Trade Package: commercial electrical contractors, residential electrical service operations, electrical service contractors making house calls, contractors running multi-site jobs, electrical apprentice operations where consistent shelf layout matters for training, contractors who routinely cross-stock their van between jobsites.
2026 update: Electrician Trade Package now available in Extended Long Length (LWB-EL) configurations. Means electrical contractors can spec maximum cargo capacity AND factory shelving in one order — substantial improvement for contractors carrying larger conduit lengths, multiple spools of wire, and full electrician tool inventory.
HVAC Trade Package (66L)
The HVAC Trade Package is factory shelving and upfit specifically configured for HVAC contractor work. Designed around HVAC service inventory: refrigerant cylinders, copper line sets, ductwork components, fittings, filters, controls, blower components, and HVAC service tools.
What’s typically included:
- Factory-installed shelving system configured for HVAC service storage
- Storage configured for refrigerant cylinders (secure, vented as needed)
- Shelf areas sized for copper line sets and ductwork components
- Compartments for fittings, controls, and smaller parts
- Tool storage for HVAC-specific tools (vacuum pumps, recovery units, gauges, refrigerant tools)
- Designed around the Cargo Van’s specific roof height and length
Standard pairings:
- Requires Cab Steel Bulkhead — separates cab from cargo area for safety and climate control. Particularly important for HVAC vans because refrigerant cylinder leaks (very rare but possible) should be contained in the cargo area.
- Includes appropriate climate and Pro Power Onboard pairing.
What you should typically add:
- Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G) — especially important for HVAC work where summer heat can stress equipment and where techs work in the cargo area between calls.
- Pro Power Onboard 2.4 kW (90E) — useful for running HVAC service equipment requiring electrical power.
- Auxiliary Fuse Panel — for aftermarket HVAC service equipment wiring (vacuum pumps, recovery units mounted in the van).
Best fit for HVAC Trade Package: commercial HVAC contractors, residential HVAC service operations, refrigeration contractors, geothermal installers, indoor air quality (IAQ) specialists, HVAC service companies running multi-tech operations where consistent shelf layout matters across the fleet.
2026 update: HVAC Trade Package now available in Extended Long Length (LWB-EL) configurations — HVAC contractors can spec maximum cargo capacity for full line sets, larger ductwork components, and full tool inventory.
General Contractor Trade Package (66M)
The General Contractor Trade Package is factory shelving and upfit configured for general contractor work — broader inventory than the trade-specific Electrician or HVAC packages. Designed around the variety of tools, materials, and parts that general contractors carry: power tools, hand tools, fasteners, building materials, framing supplies, lumber for smaller jobs, and project-specific materials.
What’s typically included:
- Factory-installed shelving system configured for general contractor storage
- Mix of shelving, bins, and open cargo areas to accommodate varied inventory
- Tool storage compartments for power tools and hand tools
- Fastener and small parts organization
- Open cargo areas for building materials, framing supplies, and project loads
- Designed around the Cargo Van’s specific roof height and length
Standard pairings:
- Requires Cab Steel Bulkhead.
- Includes 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard pairing.
What you should typically add:
- Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G) — useful for working in the cargo area in summer heat or winter cold.
- Engine Block Heater — standard MN winter equipment recommendation.
- 250 amp Dual Alternator — useful for contractors running multiple electrical loads from the van (work lights, communications equipment, auxiliary equipment).
Best fit for General Contractor Trade Package: general contractors running residential or light commercial construction, remodeling contractors, framing contractors, deck and outdoor structure contractors, contractors running smaller-scale jobs needing varied tool and material storage, multi-trade operators (carpentry plus other trades) wanting general-purpose shelving rather than trade-specific configuration.
2026 update: General Contractor Trade Package now available in Extended Long Length (LWB-EL) configurations — ideal for general contractors carrying larger material loads, longer lumber and framing supplies, and full tool inventory.
Shelving Package (66H)
The Shelving Package is factory cargo shelving without trade-specific configuration. For contractors and operators who want factory shelving but don’t fit the Electrician, HVAC, or General Contractor configurations — or who want a starting point they’ll customize with aftermarket additions.
What’s typically included:
- Factory-installed shelving system without trade-specific bins or storage
- Adjustable or modular shelving configuration
- Designed around the Cargo Van’s specific roof height and length
Best fit for Shelving Package: plumbing contractors (no dedicated plumbing Trade Package), trades not covered by Electrician/HVAC/General Contractor packages, mobile service operations (mobile mechanics, mobile detailing, mobile pet services), buyers who want factory shelving as a starting point and will add custom aftermarket components, fleet operators wanting consistent shelf configuration across multiple vans regardless of specific trade.
Combining factory and aftermarket. Many trade operations order the Shelving Package as a factory baseline and add aftermarket trade-specific bins, tool boards, and accessories from regional installers. This hybrid approach gives you the factory integration and warranty benefits of the Shelving Package plus the customization flexibility of aftermarket additions for trade-specific storage.
Pro Power Onboard for jobsite tools
Pro Power Onboard is Ford’s in-vehicle generator system — outlets in the truck deliver power directly without a separate generator. For trade operations, this means no portable generator on the jobsite.
Pro Power Onboard configurations on Transit:
- 400W standard with Auxiliary Fuse Panel on most Cargo Van configurations — one outlet for hand tools, phone chargers, smaller corded tools.
- 2.4 kW available (option 90E) — substantially more capacity for serious jobsite tool use. Requires dual AGM batteries on certain configurations.
What you can run from 400W:
- Cordless tool battery chargers
- Smaller corded power tools (drills, impact drivers, smaller saws)
- Work lights (LED, smaller halogen)
- Air compressors for tire inflation
- Smaller test equipment and meters
- Laptop and tablet chargers
What you can run from 2.4 kW (2,400W):
- Most corded power tools simultaneously — circular saws, miter saws, table saws (smaller models), reciprocating saws
- Air compressors for nail guns and pneumatic tools
- Smaller welders (110V)
- Multiple work lights simultaneously
- Refrigerators and freezers in mobile service applications
- Larger livestock equipment, water pumps, electric fencing controllers
- Smaller home backup power needs (refrigerator, lights, charging) during outages with proper transfer switch installation
For trade buyers: if you regularly run multiple corded tools simultaneously on the jobsite (circular saw plus miter saw plus work lights), the 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard is the right answer. If you mostly run hand tools and smaller equipment one at a time, the 400W standard is sufficient. The cost difference between 400W and 2.4 kW is real but typically pays back through eliminating portable generator costs (purchase, fuel, maintenance, storage, jobsite noise).
2.4 kW requires Dual AGM Batteries on certain configurations. The dual batteries (70 amp-hr each) provide the reserve capacity to run 2.4 kW loads without depleting the starting battery. AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries handle deep discharge cycles better than standard flooded batteries — appropriate for the heavier electrical loads of 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard use.
Supporting upfit options
Beyond the Trade Packages and Pro Power Onboard, several other options matter for trade buyers:
Cab Steel Bulkhead. Required for most Trade Package configurations. Separates the cab from the cargo area with a solid steel wall.
- Cargo security — prevents cargo from entering cab area in a crash or hard stop
- Climate efficiency — cab climate control only heats/cools the cab, not the cargo area
- Tool theft prevention — bulkhead provides additional security against quick smash-and-grab theft
- HVAC and Electrician work — bulkhead separation matters when working with refrigerants, chemicals, or extended periods in the cargo area
- Without bulkhead, full pass-through between cab and cargo area for buyers who reach back from the driver’s seat for tools
Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G). Provides climate control to the cargo area when separated by Cab Steel Bulkhead.
- Particularly valuable for HVAC contractors working in the cargo area between service calls
- Important for electricians working in the van for extended periods (running wire, organizing materials)
- Matters for mobile service operations where techs work standing inside the van
- For warm-weather operation: cools the cargo area separately from the cab
- For cold-weather operation: heats the cargo area when running tools or equipment
Engine Block Heater (400W rating).
- Plug in for 2-3 hours before cold-weather starts
- Gets engine to operating temperature faster, reduces wear on cold starts
- Gets cabin heat available immediately rather than waiting for the engine to warm up
- Standard MN winter equipment recommendation for any trade van that parks outside
250 amp Dual Alternator (EcoBoost only).
- Adds a second 250 amp alternator alongside the standard one
- Provides additional electrical capacity for aftermarket equipment, multiple electrical loads, or commercial upfit applications
- Available with EcoBoost engine only
- Useful for contractors running auxiliary lights, communications equipment, refrigeration, or commercial-grade aftermarket equipment
- Includes auxiliary fuse panel with high-spec interface connector for clean aftermarket equipment wiring
Auxiliary Fuse Panel.
- Factory-installed fuse panel for aftermarket equipment wiring
- Provides clean, factory-rated electrical connection points for aftermarket equipment
- Standard with 400W Pro Power Onboard
- Available on most other configurations
- Better than splicing into vehicle wiring for aftermarket installations
Upfitter switches.
- Factory-installed auxiliary switches for aftermarket equipment
- Provides clean, factory-rated wiring with proper relays and fuses
- Switch counts vary by configuration and option packages
- Useful for snowplows, auxiliary lighting, work lights, equipment lighting, communications equipment
Windows-All-Around (option 17F).
- Adds windows to the cargo area sides
- Useful for mobile service operations wanting visibility
- Common on camper van conversion builds
- Generally NOT recommended for trade operations — reduces cargo security and adds heat infiltration in summer
What’s new for 2026 in Trade Packages and Upfit
Significant 2026 changes worth highlighting:
Trade Packages now available in Extended Long Length (LWB-EL). The Electrician (66K), HVAC (66L), and General Contractor (66M) Trade Packages are now available on Extended Long Length cargo van configurations. For tradespeople wanting both maximum cargo capacity AND factory shelving in one order, this is a substantial improvement — previously these packages were limited to shorter configurations, forcing buyers to choose between maximum capacity OR factory upfit.
3.5L EcoBoost V6 now available on low/medium roof RWD Cargo Vans without requiring Ambulance Prep. Trade buyers wanting the EcoBoost’s additional torque (310 hp / 400 lb-ft vs PFDi’s 275 hp / 260 lb-ft) on a low or medium roof RWD Cargo Van no longer have to add the Ambulance Prep Package. Expanded engine availability for trade buyers.
Standard SYNC 4 with 12-inch center display. Replaces the previous SYNC 3 with 4-inch display — better navigation, larger maps for service routes, easier integration with phones via Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
5G modem with over-the-air update capability. Particularly useful for commercial fleet operators tracking telematics and receiving vehicle software updates without dealer visits. Modern fleet management features supported via Ford Pro.
Ford Co-Pilot360 standard on all series. Comprehensive driver-assist suite (Lane-Keeping System, Auto High Beam Headlamps, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Intersection Assist, Forward Sensing System, etc.) standard on all Trade Package configurations.
Keyless push-button Start standard. Convenient for trade buyers loading and unloading multiple times per day.
Laminated Safety Glass (option 92A) on Mid/High Roof Gas Cargo configurations. Better cargo theft prevention than standard glass — matters for trade buyers leaving the van loaded with tools and materials at jobsites.

Order checklist for trade buyers
If you’re spec’ing a Transit for trade work, walk through these decisions in order:
1. Body style. Cargo Van for almost all trade applications (some specialty trades may benefit from Chassis Cab for custom service body installations).
2. Roof height. High Roof for trades where you work standing inside the van daily (electrician, HVAC, plumber, mobile mechanic, mobile service operations). Medium Roof for occasional standing access. Low Roof rarely the right answer for trade work.
3. Length. 148-inch wheelbase LWB or LWB-EL for most trade applications. The 130-inch wheelbase regular-length van is too small for serious trade work.
4. Model series. Transit-250 for most trade applications. Transit-350 for heavier-load operations. Transit-150 only for light-cargo specialty applications.
5. Engine. 3.5L EcoBoost V6 for trade applications. The additional torque pairs better with loaded operation, AWD configurations, and high-roof aerodynamic drag. 3.5L PFDi only for light-cargo specialty trade work.
6. Drivetrain. AWD for year-round MN service work reaching customers in winter or on rural gravel roads. RWD for paved-road urban operations.
7. Trade Package. Electrician (66K), HVAC (66L), General Contractor (66M), or Shelving (66H) depending on your trade and inventory configuration needs.
8. Cab Steel Bulkhead. Yes for almost all trade applications. Required for most Trade Packages.
9. Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G). Yes for any trade where you work in the cargo area regularly. Particularly important for HVAC, electrician, mobile service applications.
10. Pro Power Onboard. 400W for hand tools and lighter use. 2.4 kW (option 90E) for circular saws, miter saws, multiple corded tools simultaneously.
11. 250 amp Dual Alternator. Yes for trade buyers running multiple electrical loads, refrigeration, or aftermarket equipment. EcoBoost only.
12. Engine Block Heater. Yes for any trade van that parks outside in MN winters. Standard MN winter equipment recommendation.
13. Upfitter switches. Yes if you have aftermarket equipment requiring clean factory-rated wiring (auxiliary lights, communications equipment, work lights, snow plow if applicable to the trade van).
14. Laminated Safety Glass (92A). Worth considering for trade vans loaded with valuable tools and materials. Better cargo theft prevention.
15. Aftermarket additions. Plan aftermarket additions (custom shelving, specialty tools, mobile shop upfit) before ordering so we can coordinate with body builders and ensure compatibility with factory equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I customize the factory Trade Package shelving?
The factory Trade Packages are installed with specific configurations — not adjustable from a menu. The shelf layout, bin sizes, and storage organization are designed by Ford for the typical inventory of each trade. For buyers needing different configurations or custom additions, the Shelving Package (66H) provides factory shelving as a starting point with adjustable or modular elements, and aftermarket additions can be added after delivery. Many trade buyers find the factory configurations are well-designed for their work; for highly customized needs, the hybrid approach (factory Shelving Package plus aftermarket additions) is the right answer.
Why isn’t there a plumber Trade Package?
Plumbing trade work has too much variation in cargo and inventory configurations for Ford to offer a single dedicated plumber package. Plumbers carry different materials depending on whether they primarily do service work, new construction, commercial work, or specialty work (gas piping, hydronic heating, sewer service, etc.). The Shelving Package (66H) provides a factory baseline that plumbers customize with aftermarket trade-specific shelving for pipe storage, fittings bins, and fixtures storage. Most plumbing trade buyers order Shelving Package plus aftermarket additions from regional installers.
Is the 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard worth the extra cost over 400W?
For trade buyers running corded power tools (circular saws, miter saws, table saws, larger drills, air compressors), yes — the 400W can’t handle these tools and you’ll end up needing a portable generator. The 2.4 kW provides genuine generator-equivalent jobsite power without the separate generator. For trade buyers running only hand tools, cordless tool chargers, and lighter equipment, the 400W standard is sufficient. The cost difference between 400W and 2.4 kW typically pays back through eliminating portable generator costs (purchase, fuel, maintenance, jobsite noise) within the first year for active trade buyers.
Do I need both Cab Steel Bulkhead and Auxiliary A/C?
Most Trade Package configurations require Cab Steel Bulkhead. With the bulkhead installed, cab climate control only heats/cools the cab — the cargo area doesn’t get climate control unless you add the Auxiliary A/C and Heater (57G). For trade buyers who work in the cargo area for extended periods (running wire, organizing parts, working with materials), the auxiliary climate is genuinely useful in MN summers and winters. For trade buyers who load and unload but don’t work in the cargo area for extended periods, you can skip the auxiliary climate — the bulkhead just keeps cargo isolated from the cab.
Can I add Trade Package equipment after I take delivery?
Factory Trade Packages must be ordered at the time of factory build — they’re installed before the truck leaves the factory and aren’t available as a dealer-installed option after delivery. If you take delivery without a Trade Package and decide later that you want factory shelving, your options are: (1) add aftermarket shelving from a regional body builder — effective but not the factory Trade Package, or (2) trade for a vehicle with the factory Trade Package when you’re ready for the next truck. For trade buyers who anticipate needing factory upfit, order it with the original vehicle.
How much does the factory Trade Package add to the price?
Pricing varies by Trade Package, configuration, and dealer market — we can quote specific pricing on the configuration you’re considering. As a rough guide, factory Trade Packages typically add $1,500-$3,500 to the base Cargo Van price, depending on package and supporting options (bulkhead, auxiliary climate, Pro Power Onboard 2.4 kW). For comparison, equivalent aftermarket shelving installation typically runs $2,000-$5,000+ including labor and time off the road. Call us for specific quoted pricing on your configuration — we’ll pull current factory pricing and walk through the full build.
Can I use the Transit’s Pro Power Onboard for home backup during outages?
Yes, with proper installation. The 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard delivers comparable power to a 2,000-watt portable generator — enough to keep critical home circuits (refrigerator, freezer, lights, charging devices) running during power outages. To safely connect to your home electrical system, you’ll need a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician. Don’t attempt to backfeed power through standard outlets — this is unsafe and illegal in most jurisdictions. The Transit’s 25-gallon fuel tank provides substantial runtime; the EcoBoost engine running intermittently to charge the battery can keep critical home loads supplied for days. Consult a licensed electrician for proper transfer switch installation.
