If you own a Ford and you have ever paid for an oil change, brakes, tires, or a set of floor mats at a dealership, there is a good chance you left points on the table. Ford Rewards — the program most people still know as FordPass Rewards — is free, and it pays you back roughly 10% in points on Ford service. But there is one rule that quietly costs Ford owners real money every year, and almost nobody knows about it. We will start there.

Is It FordPass Rewards or Ford Rewards?

Both — and this trips people up, so let us clear it up. Ford has rebranded the program from FordPass Rewards to Ford Rewards. At the same time, the FordPass app became simply the Ford app, and the program now lives at FordRewards.com.

Nothing about how it works changed with the name. If you have been a FordPass Rewards member for years, you are a Ford Rewards member now — same account, same Points, same balance. Ford’s own paperwork still says “Ford Rewards (formerly known as FordPass Rewards)” to help everyone catch up. Throughout this guide we will use the current name, but if you came here searching for FordPass Rewards, you are in exactly the right place.

What Is Ford Rewards, and Does It Cost Anything?

Ford Rewards is Ford’s free loyalty program for owners. There is no membership fee, no annual cost, and no catch. You earn Points on things you are already paying for — service, maintenance, parts, accessories — and then spend those Points to knock money off future visits.

The simplest way to think about it: on qualifying Ford service, you earn roughly 10 Points per $1 spent, and those Points come back to you as a discount. That works out to approximately 10% back on service you were going to pay for anyway. For a truck or SUV owner who does regular maintenance at the dealership, that adds up meaningfully over a few years.

You also do not need to own a Ford to be a member — Points are tied to your member account, not to a specific vehicle — though the biggest earning opportunities come with ownership.

How Do I Earn Ford Rewards Points?

There are two main ways Points land in your account:

• Service, parts, and accessories: approximately 10 Points per $1 spent on qualifying Ford service and genuine Ford, Motorcraft®, or Omnicraft™ parts and their associated labor at a participating Ford dealer.
• The Welcome Reward: approximately 31,000 Points when you purchase or lease a new or Certified Pre-Owned Ford — a value of more than $150 toward future service. This is a one-time bonus tied to the vehicle transaction.

Members can also earn bonus Points through periodic promotions and, depending on your membership tier, accelerated earning on qualifying activity. The everyday driver of the program, though, is simple: bring your Ford in for service, earn Points, use them next time.

What Purchases Qualify for Points?

More than most owners realize. Qualifying purchases at a participating Ford dealer include:

• Routine service and maintenance — oil changes, tire rotations, brake service, batteries, alignments, diagnostics
• Genuine Ford, Motorcraft®, and Omnicraft™ parts and the labor associated with installing them
• Ford accessories — floor liners, bed covers, running boards, roof racks, and more
• Collision and body shop repairs that use qualifying Ford parts and associated labor

That last one surprises people. How Do I Redeem Ford Rewards Points?

This is refreshingly simple: you redeem at the service counter. When you come in for service, tell us you would like to use your Points, and we apply them as a discount right on your invoice. No printing coupons, no codes, no waiting for a statement credit.

You can check your Points balance in the Ford app under the Account tab, at FordRewards.com, or by simply asking us — we can look up your balance at the counter. Many owners like to let Points build for a few visits and then apply a larger chunk to a bigger job like brakes or tires.

One important note: Points are not redeemable for cash and have no cash value. They are redeemed toward qualifying purchases at participating dealers.

Do Ford Rewards Points Expire?

Yes, and this is worth putting on your calendar. Ford Rewards Points expire after 18 months of account inactivity. As long as you are earning or redeeming Points at least once within any 18-month window, your balance stays alive.

For most owners who service their vehicle at the dealership once or twice a year, this never becomes an issue — a single oil change resets the clock. But if you have not been in for a while and you know you have a balance sitting there, it is worth a visit before it disappears.

And remember the bigger risk from the top of this article: the 60-day activation rule. Expiration only matters if the Points made it into your account in the first place. If you were not activated within 60 days of your service invoice, those Points never posted at all.

What Are the Ford Rewards Membership Tiers?

Ford Rewards uses a tiered membership structure, and your tier can affect how quickly you accumulate Points. Higher tiers are generally reached through ownership and ongoing activity with the program, and can include accelerated Point earning and additional member benefits on qualifying purchases.

Because tier names, thresholds, and benefits are set by Ford and can be updated, the most reliable place to see exactly which tier you are in and what it earns you is your account in the Ford app or at FordRewards.com. How Do I Enroll in Ford Rewards?

Three easy options:

• Download the Ford app (formerly the FordPass app) and create or activate your account.
• Go to FordRewards.com and sign up online.
• Let us do it for you. Not enrolled? Tell us on your next visit and we will set you up at the service counter — it takes a couple of minutes and starts earning immediately.

If you just bought a vehicle or had service done recently, do not wait. Get activated inside that 60-day window so the Points you already earned actually post to your account.
