2026 Ford F-150 at Jay Malone Ford in Hutchinson MN

The 2026 Ford F-150 is part of the F-Series family that has been America’s best-selling truck for 48 years straight — and for good reason. It’s a truck built around the real demands of the people who drive it: farmers hauling grain and livestock trailers across McLeod County, contractors powering tools on a jobsite, families navigating Minnesota winters on gravel county roads, and buyers who want a capable, comfortable daily driver that never lets them down.

At Jay Malone Ford in Hutchinson, the F-150 is our most important vehicle — and we’ve put together this complete overview so you can understand every dimension of the 2026 model before you walk in the door. Eight trim levels, six engine options, a deep selection of packages, and a technology suite that has changed significantly in recent years. This page covers the full picture.

2026 F-150 Engine Options

The 2026 F-150 offers four engines for most buyers, each paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Engine choice directly affects towing capacity, payload, package availability, and how the truck performs in Minnesota conditions.

EngineHorsepowerTorqueMax Tow
2.7L EcoBoost® V6325 hp400 lb-ftUp to 8,400 lbs
3.5L EcoBoost® V6382 hp500 lb-ftUp to 13,500 lbs

3.5L PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6420 hp570 lb-ftUp to 11,600 lbs

Max towing when properly equipped — varies based on cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories, and number of passengers. Official EPA fuel economy estimates not yet published for 2026 — see fueleconomy.gov or ask your dealer for current figures.

Engine choices are explored in detail — including which engine is right for your towing needs, how the PowerBoost Hybrid performs in Minnesota winters, and which configurations are available on each trim — in our dedicated engine guide: 2026 F-150 Engine Options: Which Powertrain Is Right for You?

Towing and Payload Overview

The 2026 F-150 tows up to 13,500 lbs and carries up to 2,440 lbs of payload when properly equipped — figures that place it at the top of the half-ton segment. Both numbers depend on engine choice, drivetrain, cab configuration, and packages ordered.

Two packages determine how close your F-150 gets to its maximum towing capability:

  • Tow/Haul Package (53T): Required to reach maximum tow ratings on the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8. Adds Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, upgraded rear axle ratio, electronic locking rear differential, and Tow/Haul transmission mode. Not compatible with the 2.7L EcoBoost. Standard on King Ranch® and Platinum®.
  • Max Tow Axle: A separate optional upgrade beyond the Tow/Haul Package — required to reach the highest published tow ratings on the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8.

For a complete breakdown of towing capacity by engine, how the Tow/Haul Package and Max Tow Axle work, and which trailer types the F-150 handles for Minnesota buyers, this is explored in detail in our towing guide: 2026 F-150 Towing Guide: How Much Can It Actually Pull?
